ORATIO / 0.05 USDC · BASE MAINNET

A prayer for
the occasion.

Oratio is an API for AI agents and developers to find original Latin and English prayers and liturgical passages. Describe an occasion; receive source excerpts with citations.

Semantic retrieval uses EmbeddingGemma 2 and a vector database. The initial corpus is Divinum Officium’s traditional Divine Office and Mass texts. Source passages retain their language and tradition.

What does the API return?

Original excerpts and their source URLs, language, collection, section, and source revision. It retrieves texts rather than composing new prayers.

Which liturgies and versions are supported?

Traditional Roman, monastic, Dominican, and Cistercian source collections where texts are present. The default is traditional Roman, in English. This first version searches source excerpts; it does not assemble the correct office or Mass for a date, or replace a liturgical calendar engine. Modern Liturgy of the Hours editions are not imported.

Returned excerpts can omit conclusions or unresolved source references. Consult the cited source for the complete liturgical form.

Is Ora et Labora included?

Not yet. Its Latin-prayers page currently redirects to a private site. The source catalogue records it as unavailable.
